SSANU, NASU Begin Indefinite Strike. This decision has came out after the seven (7) day deadline given to the Nigerian government to resolve the issue of unpaid salaries disclosed at midnight Sunday 27 October, 2024 .This strike is in response to the governments not fulfilled the promised to pay workers outstanding salaries, which has led to calls for ‘No Work, No Pay’ when the strike is postponed to 2022.

This decision of going to indefinite strike has came out after the seven (7) day deadline given to the Nigerian government to resolve the issue of unpaid salaries disclosed at midnight Sunday 27 October, 2024.

The strike is in response to the government’s not fulfilled the promised to pay workers outstanding salaries, prompting calls for ‘No Work, No Pay’ when the strike is extended to 2022. The unions had previously given the government a grace of 10 days as a deadline and the government failed to resolve the issue, which ended on 26 July, 2024, to pay university workers outstanding of four months’ salary. The strike is about to start Monday 28 October, 2024 because of the seamless of the government failures to resolve the problem, and it is not known how long it will last or what effect it will have on the education sector.
